2010 SENIOR NATIONAL TEAM ANNOUNCED

New Year's Eve was not only the day that most of us celebrated the end of 2009 and looking forward to a glorious 2010, but was the day that the SAIHA released the team list for the SA Senior National Team that is going to be traveling to Armenia later this year.

Ronnie Wood has resumed the positon as head coach and is underway with an intense training program for this young national team. Players being selected from Cape Town, Durban and Gauteng will be groomed for this IIHF World Championship Tournament and will have to hold the South African flag high as they take on the national teams from Armenia, Mongolia and the tournament favourites DPR Korea.

The tournament is taking place from 14 April - 18 April 2010 in the Armenian city of Yerevan. Team SA will be playing a warm up game against IIHF new comers, TEAM GEORGIA, which will take place prior to the tournament. A round-robin will then take place beteen the 4 teams with the final 2 games being played as follows: Top 2 teams playing for gold medal and bottom 2 team playing for bronze.

Peter Habib has been appointment as the team manager and will be traveling with the team when they depart on 11 April 2010. Team SA's first tournament game takes place on Wednesday 14 April at 8pm against Armenia, their 2nd game is scheduled for Thursday 14 April at 4pm and the last of their round-robin is set to take place on Saturday 17 April against Team Korea.
If all goes to plan, Team SA will be playing aginst Korea in the finals for the gold medal on Sunday 18th April at 8pm.
